SERVICES
Marriage services have long been an event we take great pride in performing. The preface, Declarations, readings, and Sermon. The vows, ring exchange, proclamation and the blessing and registration of the marriage.
The christening and baptism service has become one of the great rites of passage . A christening is a child's first initiation into their religious faith.

SUNDAY SERVICES:
We have worship services on every Sunday morning of the month at 11:00 am.
On most Sundays, the type of service that is offered in the 11:00 time slot is a Choral Eucharist, which is the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion, sung by the priest, the choir, and the congregation.
However, in addition to the above, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, there is also a “said” service at 9:00 am, which is a simple celebration of Holy Communion in which there is no music, but is accompanied by the reading of Sacred Scripture along with a short commentary on one of the scripture passages that was read.
In all of our services, we use the Anglican Book of Alternative Services exclusively, which is an Anglican service book that is written in modern, contemporary language. Nevertheless, the “tone’ of our services tends to be traditional.
During the 11:00 am service, there is a Sunday School and a Nursery that is operated in the adjacent church hall to which all children are welcome. Normally, children begin the service sitting in the church with their parents and proceed to the hall prior to the preaching of the sermon.
All of our 11:00 am Sunday services are followed by a time of fellowship: tea, coffee and conversation in the church hall, at which everyone is most welcome to join us.
It is to be noted that, in Anglican theology, the Altar is regarded as Christ’s Table, and not ours. Therefore, everyone, regardless of their denominational affiliation or background, is welcome to join us in receiving the Sacrament at any of our Eucharists, provided that they are baptized believers who acknowledge Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.
During the celebration of a Eucharist, if an individual is infirm and is unable to come forward to receive, they are advised to speak to an usher, who will arrange for the priest to administer the Sacrament to them where they are sitting.
Throughout the Christian year, special services take place on various Holy Days, such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and also regular week-night services during the season of Lent. There are usually two services offered on Christmas Eve: a Family service at 7:00 pm and a more traditional service at 9:00 pm.
Home Communions for shut-ins will be provided upon request.
WEDDINGS:
Weddings must be arranged with the priest at least three months in advance. Normally, the priest will meet with the couple to discuss their relationship and their personal situation, along with the details of the service, including fees. It is expected that the couple will take a Marriage Preparation Course in advance of the wedding. If the couple live out-of town or in another province, they must receive Marriage Preparation from an Anglican priest who practices pastoral ministry at a church that is located in or near the community where they live.
BAPTISMS:
All baptisms (except emergency baptisms) must take place within the context of congregational worship and must be arranged in advance with the priest. There is no particular Sunday in the month which is set aside for baptisms and every effort is made to take into account the needs of the families concerned. At least one parent of the child to be baptized must be a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Normally, there are three godparents, of which at least one must be a practicing Anglican.
FUNERALS:
The staff of St. Nicholas Church make every effort to minister to families that are experiencing grief. Funerals are arranged by the priest in consultation with the funeral home concerned.
CONFIRMATION:
Dates and times of Confirmation services, as well as the classes leading up to them, vary. It is best to discuss a young person’s proposed confirmation with the priest.
ADULT INITIATION:
Adults are admitted to the Christian faith (by Sacrament of Holy Baptism) and into the Anglican Communion (by Reception or the Rite of Confirmation) only after an appropriate period of instruction by the priest. In the light of the candidates’ adult status, flexible arrangements can be made regarding the time and place where the services will be held.
